ESPN International Renews Exclusive La Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante Rights in Brazil

Five-year Multimedia Agreement Includes 2015/16 to 2019/20 Seasons

ESPN International has renewed a broad multimedia rights agreement to broadcast Spain’s La Liga and the Liga Adelante (first and second divisions) in Brazil.  The agreement includes exclusive rights for all television and internet, and non-exclusive radio rights, for all La Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante matches per season through 2020, along with the annual promotion and relegation playoff matches.

Under the agreement, ESPN has the right to air all 380 La Liga BBVA matches and over eighty hours of highlights, magazine and other support programming each season.  The deal was brokered by Mediapro, agency representatives of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional de España.622_a62d6946-1f0a-30a5-82de-5f81c8656243

La Liga is the top league in Europe and its clubs have won both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League the last two seasons.  La Liga features over seventy-five players from South America, including Brazilians Neymar, Dani Alves and Marcelo, and other stars such as Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, and James Rodriguez.

ESPN Brazil’s coverage of the La Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante will air across a variety of multimedia platforms, including ESPN’s television networks ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Brasil.  WatchESPN, ESPN Brazil’s broadband network, and its national digital platforms ESPN.com.br and ESPN Sync, it second screen app, will also offer extensive coverage each season.
