Melinda Farrell is part of the ESPNcricinfo Match Point on air team.  As a leading presenter covering the game, she brings a grounded and dynamic journalist take to all things cricket. Farrell joined ESPN in 2014 as an analyst and presenter and today continues with match coverage, previews and interviews.

The New South Wales native attended James Sheahan High School, before graduating from the University of Canberra with a BA TV Communications/Journalism degree. This helped propel her into the world of sports. Prior to her position at ESPN, Farrell was a sports presenter for Sportsfan.com.au and also worked for ABC News 24 in the same capacity. She has covered cricket for a host of leading sports publications including ESPNcricinfo, Fox Sports, ABC, The Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, The Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sydney Morning Herald and Cricket Australia.

Farrell has also worked for Sky Sports in the UK, and spent 7 months in the Middle East working on the Asian Games coverage for David Atkins Enterprises. She has been highly commended by the Australian Sports Commission Media Awards for her reporting on Blind Cricket whilst being a three-time nominee for the Australian Sports Commission Awards.

She is seen as one of the more established reporters in the Eastern Hemisphere, with her humanitarian/sport pieces garnering much acclaim, as seen with her advocacy for The McGrath Foundation–a breast cancer support and education charity started in 2002 by Aussie pace legend, Glenn McGrath, and his late wife, Jane. Farrell was the proud recipient of the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ award by Cricket Victoria in 2010 and continues ground-breaking work into school and suburban/grassroots cricket in Australia.
