ESPN Caribbean Presents Exclusive and Live Coverage of the 2016 I.C.C. U19 Cricket World Cup

Coverage of the 11th edition of the Marquee 50-over Tournament Starts January 26

ESPN Caribbean presents live, exclusive coverage of the world’s most prestigious One Day International (ODI) youth competition, the 2016 I.C.C. U19 Cricket World Cup, from January 26 until February 13 from Bangladesh. 20 matches will be broadcast live for the first time since the tournament’s inception at 9:45 p.m. ET from Dhaka and Chittagong. These include select group stage matches in addition to the Super League knockout matches from February 4. Matches will be broadcast via the ESPN Caribbean and ESPN2 Caribbean television networks, as well as on ESPN Play (www.espnplay.com) — ESPN’s multiscreen live and on-demand broadband service.

16 teams have been divided into four groups which will consist of 9 Test playing nations, six regional associate and affiliate qualifiers – Scotland, Canada, Namibia, Afghanistan, Nepal and Fiji – and one invitee in Ireland. West Indies, who finished 6th in the last edition in the U.A.E., will compete in Group C with 1998 winner, England, as well as Zimbabwe and Fiji. Defending champions, South Africa, will vie to become the first team to successfully defend the title since Pakistan in 2006, and are pitted in Group A against the host nation, Scotland and Namibia. Last tournament’s finalist, Pakistan, is in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Canada. Group D comprises of three-time winner India as well as New Zealand, Nepal and Ireland.

The top two teams from each Group will advance into the Super League knockouts from Dhaka starting with the Quarter-Finals (February 4 to 7). The Semi-Finals commence February 8 leading to the grand finale on February 13.
