2018 Champion Webb Simpson returns to the field alongside Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson for a chance at the 2019 title and $2.25 million

ESPN2 Caribbean will be the home for golf fans in the Caribbean looking to watch The PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA Tour’s most prestigious tournaments, March 14-17. Live coverage of the event from TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL will start with coverage of the Featured Groups on Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, at 7:30 a.m. ET.  Each Championship Round will also air Thursday to Sunday, at 1 p.m. ET or 3 p.m. ET.  Coverage also will be available via streaming on ESPN Play – ESPN Caribbean’s multiscreen live and on-demand broadband service.

Returning 2018 Champion Webb Simpson will aim to become the first player in the tournament’s history to successfully defend his title following his four-shot victory last year. Two-time PLAYERS Champion Tiger Woods, tournament champion Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy, along with number one ranked Dustin Johnson, are expected to compete in the 144-player field.

This year’s total purse is the highest ever for a professional golf tournament at $12.5 million, with the winner of The PLAYERS Championship, widely considered golf’s unofficial “fifth major,” set to earn $2.25 million.

In addition to more than 25 hours of live tournament coverage, ESPN will provide extensive news, information and analysis across a variety of studio shows on ESPN2 Caribbean, online and mobile. ESPN.com will provide live leaderboards, news, analysis and a daily podcast.

It is also the first time the event will be held in March in more than a decade. With its new place on the PGA TOUR calendar, The PLAYERS now leads into the sport’s four major championships: Masters, U.S. Open, The Open Championship and PGA Championship.
