ESPN Caribbean will air exclusive live coverage of the 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, the world’s most prestigious One-Day International (ODI) competition, commencing with the Group Stage from May 30. Ten teams will compete for the crown with all 48 matches airing from 11 cricketing grounds across England and Wales via the ESPN Caribbean and ESPN2 Caribbean television networks, as well as on ESPN Play (www.espnplay.com) — ESPN’s multiscreen live and on-demand broadband service.

ESPN Caribbean will also air live the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Opening Party set to take place on London’s iconic Mall today at noon ET.

This is the second consecutive tournament for which ESPN is the premier broadcaster in the West Indies. A flagship cricket studio show ESPNcricinfo Match Day will provide further previews and in-depth analysis of the tournament’s daily action via pre-, post- and mid-inning segments out of Mumbai. ESPNcricinfo Match Day pre-show begins approximately 30 minutes before each match and the Post Show runs for approximately 30 minutes after each match.

In-studio talent will include former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago cricketer, Daren Ganga, with pace legend and renowned cricket pundit, Michael Holding, at the venues. These players have represented the Windies at the highest level and are among the region’s leading cricket experts. Roving talent at the venues will also include ESPN’s Jamaican reporter, Alexis Nunes, as well as Australia’s Melinda Farrell, helping connect Caribbean fans to the players they love.

West Indies, who reached the quarter-finals in the last edition, will once more be led by Bajan Jason Holder, as they open proceedings against Pakistan on May 31. His team will also face champions Australia, New Zealand, India, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Holder will have Jamaican big-hitters, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, at his disposal, as well as young talents such as Shimron Hetmyer and Nicolas Pooran with the bat. On the bowling side, he will be relying on the experienced Kemar Roach and hotshot Oshane Thomas to help deliver the Caribbean outfit victory. The Windies, who won the first two editions of the tournament in 1975 and 1979, will be looking to shake off their current underdogs tag on the heels of an impressive drawn series against England, in order to bring the trophy back home.

The top four teams from the Group Stage will advance to the Semi-Finals starting July 9, culminating with the Final on July 11 from Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
