ESPN fans will enjoy the “March Madness” experience
Officially tipping off March 22nd, ESPN will broadcast the NCAA Division I Men and Women’s Basketball Championship. All games will air live across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Extra and ESPN Play Caribbean

For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN returns as the exclusive home of the NCAA Division I Men and Women’s Basketball Championship.
The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are the ultimate single-elimination tournaments held every spring in the United States, determining the national champions for college basketball among the Division I programs within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Due to the unpredictability and abundance of upsets, these tournaments have fans on the edge of their seats.
Also known as March Madness, the NCAA features a total of 68 teams competing in a single-elimination bracket. Teams qualify for the tournament by winning their conference tournament or receiving an “at-large” bid based on their season performance.
Four teams earn No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament. For the Women’s tournament the No. 1 seeds were: South Carolina, Iowa, USC, and Texas. As for the Men’s tournament, UConn, Houston, Purdue and North Carolina each earned a No. 1 seed for their region.

First round coverage of the Men’s tournament is set to start Thursday at noon EST. Whip around coverage will be available on ESPN for the First Round, Second Round, and Sweet Sixteen. Starting with the Elite 8, we will capture every game in its entirety on ESPN with the Championships slated for Monday, April 8th. Additionally, whiparound coverage and all indivudial games will be available live on ESPN Play.
The Women’s first round begins on Friday. All games from the entire tournament will be available on ESPN Play with select First Round, Second Round, Sweet Sixteen, and Elite 8 games on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Extra. The Final Four and Championship can be seen live on ESPN.
