For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN returns as the exclusive home of the NCAA Division I Men and Women’s Basketball Championship.

The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are the ultimate single-elimination tournaments held every spring in the United States, determining the national champions for college basketball among the Division I programs within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Due to the unpredictability and abundance of upsets, these tournaments have fans on the edge of their seats.

Also known as March Madness, the NCAA features a total of 68 teams competing in a single-elimination bracket. Teams qualify for the tournament by winning their conference tournament or receiving an “at-large” bid based on their season performance.

Four teams earn No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament. For the Women’s tournament the No. 1 seeds were: South Carolina, Iowa, USC, and Texas. As for the Men’s tournament, UConn, Houston, Purdue and North Carolina each earned a No. 1 seed for their region.
