Vice President of Research, Insights and Analytics

Barry Blyn joined ESPN in January, 2008 and is currently Vice President of Research, Insights and Analytics.  He leads a team of researchers focused on growing ESPN’s sports business by translating sports fans’ behavior, attitudes, viewership and consumption across all distributed platforms into tactical insights that drive tune-in, engagement, and subscriptions.

In recent years his responsibilities have included measurement of sports content consumption across ESPN, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC and ESPN digital channels.

Blyn joined ESPN from Sterling Brands where he was senior vice president, strategy leading brand positioning projects for MTV, Lifetime, CMT, People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly.  Prior to that, Blyn worked for nine years at Comedy Central where he rose to vice president, programming research.

Blyn began his career in research at Peter Hart Associates where he directed numerous consumer and political studies.

Blyn was graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of arts degree in 1992 and earned a masters degree in business from NYU in 2002.
