College Basketball Play-by-Play Announcer
Dave Baker is part of the SEC’s basketball television team, calling men’s and women’s games for ESPNU and SEC Network. He has become a staple on SEC basketball, as he started calling play-by-play for Southeastern Conference games in 1991.
In addition to hosting Countdown To Tip-Off on the University of Kentucky Radio Network and doing play-by-play for a variety of UK basketball telecasts, Baker has been a sports anchor, reporter and account executive at WKYT since 1982. He was also a contributor, sideline reporter and play-play announcer for SEC basketball games for Raycom Sports from 1991-2009. His other hosting jobs include “SEC Tailgate” on the CBS College Sports Network for the 2009 and 2010 seasons and he also created and hosted “The Dave Baker Show” on Clear Channel Radio for five years.
The Franklin, Ohio, native graduated from Georgetown (Ky.) College in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in political science. Baker is involved in a number of civic and charitable activities, most notably, The Children’s Charity Golf Classic in Lexington, which in 35 years has raised over 15 million dollars for children’s organizations in central Kentucky. Baker is a recipient of the Jose Ferrer Award, that organizations highest honor.
