Vice President, Stats & Information Group

Jeff Bennett is the vice president of ESPN’s stats & information group (SIG) and founder of the sports analytics team, which developed Total QBR, Football Power Index and Basketball Power Index, among many other renowned metrics and tools. In addition to sports analytics, SIG encompasses ESPN’s content research, BottomLine and stats & analysis teams.

He earned his way up SIG’s senior ladder with roles at every level, including college football remote researcher, SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight lead researcher (winning five Sports Emmys from 1996-2003), studio research manager, stats & information director, stats & analysis senior director and his current role of vice president.

Under Jeff’s leadership, SIG has led the way at ESPN in the integration of advanced metrics and player tracking data into storytelling across all platforms while continuing to provide the fastest and most accurate sports data in the world.

Jeff joined ESPN in 1994 as a SportsCenter video tape archivist after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics. He was a member of WPI’s wrestling team from 1991-94.
