Jorge Castillo

Baseball Reporter
Jorge Castillo joined ESPN in February 2024 as an MLB reporter based in New York, with a focus on covering the Yankees and Mets across ESPN’s platforms, including digital, television, and podcasts. His coverage includes in-depth reporting on two of MLB’s most storied franchises, their players, and the broader baseball landscape.
One of Castillo’s favorite assignments so far has been covering the 2024 World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers—a dream matchup for any baseball writer and a highlight in his career.
Before ESPN, Castillo spent more than five years at the Los Angeles Times, first as the Dodgers beat reporter and later as a sports enterprise writer. He previously covered Major League Baseball and the NBA at The Washington Post, reporting on the Nationals and Wizards. Earlier in his career, he covered New York sports for The Star-Ledger, including the Mets, Yankees, and Giants.
A Worcester, Massachusetts native, Castillo graduated from Yale University in 2011 with a degree in history. His work has earned multiple honors from the Associated Press Sports Editors, including top-10 finishes in both the short and long feature categories in 2023. His writing was also featured in The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2023.
Outside of work, Castillo enjoys working out, running, reading, and listening to music.
