College Basketball Play-by-Play Announcer

Kanoa Leahey has been a men’s college basketball play-by-play announcer for ESPN since 2013, and also announced for Oceanic Time Warner and Pacific Media Group.

He also hosts a two-hour weekday talk show, “Let’s Talk Sports With Kanoa Leahey,” which airs on Maui’s ESPN 900 AM. Prior to that, he had a television sports talk show with his father, Jim, “Leahey & Leahey,” which was on PBS in Hawaii for nine years. The third-generation sportscaster has followed the footsteps of his father and grandfather as the play-by-play voice of the University of Hawaii sports. He is also the former sports director and anchor at KHON2.

The Honolulu native graduated from the Iolani School before taking his first job as a sports reporter at KITV, Honolulu’s ABC affiliate. Leahey was recognized in March 2015 during a proclamation with three other fellow employees for ESPN’s outstanding contribution to the state of Hawaii for ESPN Events creation of the Diamond Head Classic and Hawaii Bowl.
