Play-by-Play Commentator

Kevin Fitzgerald currently serves as a college sports play-by-play voice at ESPN. He has called a wide array of sports since first joining ESPN in 2016, including college basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, volleyball and football.

The Hillsborough, N.J., native also spent several years calling Big East basketball and select college football games for FOX and FS1 from 2018-22 on a part-time basis. He’s also filled in on New York Mets spring training telecasts on SNY and PIX11.

From 2016-19, Fitzgerald was the Broadcasting and Media Relations Director for the Columbia Fireflies in Columbia, South Carolina – the Mets single-A affiliate at the time. He was the primary voice of the team for both radio and television broadcasts.

Some of his other sports media work experience includes play-by-play for Citadel football, Rutgers University, the University of Vermont, the Fort Wayne TinCaps (single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres) and the Bluefield Blue Jays.

Fitzgerald graduated from Syracuse University in 2014 with a degree in Broadcast Digital Journalism. During his final year at SU, he won the Jim Nantz Award, an annual honor given to the nation’s most outstanding collegiate broadcaster.
