Lynn Matthews

Vice President, Talent Acquisition
Lynn Matthews joined ESPN in February 2019 as vice president, talent acquisition in the human resources department. In this role, she is responsible for advancing ESPN’s overall recruiting strategy and operations to ensure the organization continues to secure the absolute best available talent. An experienced leader, she brings an extensive background in world class talent acquisition practices, with past responsibilities including leading the global recruiting efforts, ensuring inclusive hiring practices and amplifying the employment brand for various organizations such as the NBA.
Matthews comes to ESPN most recently from Harbor Light Talent Solutions, where she served for a year as managing director of this boutique executive search firm and talent consultancy. Prior to that role, she served as vice president, global talent acquisition for the NBA from 2015 – 2018, and was responsible for developing a technology-optimized hiring process.
From 2003-2015 Matthews was at NIKE, rising from senior merchandising recruiter to a variety of director-level management roles, including leading their Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence, and overseeing global recruiting for units such as Converse, NIKE Global Direct to Consumer, and Latin America.
Matthews started her career in 1993 at Battalia Winston International, rising to research associate working with clients to design and implement successful search strategies. In 1998, she joined GAP as a research associate and in 2000 was promoted to senior executive recruiter/search specialist.
Matthews received a bachelor’s degree in music education and voice performance from The Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in 1990. She earned a master’s degree in voice performance from The Manhattan School of Music in New York in 1991.
