Sunday Night Baseball Play-by-Play Announcer
Matt Vasgersian joined ESPN in 2018 as the third-ever play-by-play voice of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball – the exclusive, national MLB game of the week. He calls Sunday Night Baseball alongside analyst Alex Rodriguez and reporter Buster Olney. As part of Vasgersian’s ESPN role, he also calls an MLB Wild Card Game each year.
A veteran baseball play-by-play announcer, he was the voice of the San Diego Padres for seven seasons, and prior to that held the same role with the Milwaukee Brewers for five seasons. He also called baseball and softball, among other events, for NBC Sports during the 2004 Summer Olympics.
In addition to his play-by-play career, the multi-faceted Vasgersian is widely known as the voice of MLB: The Show – one of the most popular MLB esports properties.
Vasgersian also hosts MLB Network studio programming for shows such as Hot Stove and MLB Tonight.
In 2001, Vasgersian served as play-by-play lead for the XFL during its first go-around. He also handled play-by-play for Fox Sports on their NFL and College Football BCS packages between 2005 and 2008.
Vasgersian is a graduate of the University of Southern California. During his childhood years, he was an actor, appearing on several television shows and films.
