Award-winning producer Matthew Garrett is a vice president of production with oversight of ESPN’s entire portfolio of college football studio shows, including the iconic College GameDay Built by The Home Depot franchise. Elevated to his current role in January 2025, he also oversees lacrosse studio and event productions (NCAA, Premier Lacrosse, Women’s Lacrosse League, etc.), and golf studio productions, including ESPN’s presence at both the Masters and PGA Championship.

Since moving to college football in August 2023, Garrett has overseen College GameDay during two of the most-viewed seasons in the show’s celebrated 38-year history. In addition to GameDay, Garrett also oversees College Football Live, all studio coverage of the College Football Playoff, and the annual NFL Draft on ABC presentation.

Garrett previously spent more than a decade on ESPN’s NFL productions, including serving as coordinating producer of both Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown from 2017-23, overseeing all aspects of both shows, including talent management, weekly features, on-site coverage at Monday Night Football games, and more. He also spent five years (2011-16) as a producer on Monday Night CountdownNFL Live and SportsCenter.

Garrett has overseen ESPN’s studio coverage at both the Masters and PGA Championship major golf championships since 2013. He also previously worked both the US Open and Open Championship events for ESPN.

A 20-year ESPN employee, Garrett is a four-time Sports Emmy winner. He joined the company after college as a production assistant (2005-07) before being promoted to associate producer (2008), highlight supervisor (2009-10) and his eventual producer roles.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Garrett graduated from Miami (Ohio) University with a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication and journalism.
