Mitch Holthus is a play-by-play commentator for ESPN’s men’s college basketball coverage. He has also been the play-by-play voice of the Kansas City Chiefs since 1994, making him the longest tenured play-by-play commentator in Chiefs history.

Holthus is a past president of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He was part of the 2008 induction class into Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Holthus has previously been named the Kansas City Journalist of the Year and won an Emmy in 2012 for top television host.

In addition to his work on ESPN, the Smith Center, Kan., native also hosts the Chiefs Insider and the Chiefs Rewind television shows and his work is featured on kcchiefs.com.

Holthus earned two degrees from Kansas State University in journalism in 1979 and business administration in 1980. He was the radio voice of the Kansas State Wildcats from 1983-1986.
