Vice President, Disney Platform Distribution

As vice president of Disney Platform Distribution, Pete O’Connell is responsible for managing and negotiating the distribution of the Walt Disney Television and ESPN networks across television, over-the-top platforms, video on demand and TV Everywhere services.  O’Connell’s team oversees accounts that include: Charter Cable (the third largest distributor in the country), T-Mobile, The NCTC (the industry-leading cooperative group comprised of over 900 cable operators), Samsung, LG, Mediacom, Sprint and many others.

O’Connell is a 19-year veteran of The Walt Disney Company, joining in May 1997 as a production assistant for ESPN International.  After spending four years with the international team, Pete made the move to affiliate sales, joining the team as an account executive in the local ad sales group.  In 2006, O’Connell began working on content distribution deals for the company.

O’Connell earned his Master’s degree in Sports Communication from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Towson State University in Towson, MD.  O’Connell grew up in Baltimore, MD and attended Mount Saint Joseph High School. He is a loyal “12.”
