Vice President, espnW Marketing and Female Audience Expansion
Rachel Epstein is the Vice President, espnW Marketing and Female Audience Expansion at ESPN.
In her role, she creates consistent strategy and impact in driving female audience expansion. This includes expansion across the enterprise, coalescing key live sports, storytelling, and brand and content properties that are vital to female audience development.
Additionally, Epstein oversees marketing for ESPN’s emerging brands and properties, including espnW, W. Studios, WNBA, US Open tennis, Wimbledon, Andscape, Little League World Series and others. For espnW, she leads programming and development of espnW events, including the annual espnW: Women + Sport Summit, the leading event of its kind. Epstein started at ESPN July 2012.
Prior to her role with ESPN and espnW, Epstein was part of the leadership team that launched Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS), overseeing marketing, events, and sponsorship for the league. Before launching WPS, she was an Associate Director in ESPN’s Consumer Marketing group, responsible for the marketing and promotion of NBA and WNBA programming across ESPN’s media platforms.
Epstein’s early career began at Wenner Media, where she managed ad sales marketing for Rolling Stone, Us Weekly and Men’s Journal magazines.
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Epstein graduated from Indiana University in 1995. As a member of IIU’s tennis team, she garnered All-America honors, was a three-time All-Big Ten player, four-time Big Ten Champion, and team captain her senior year.
