Vice President, Talent Strategy, Negotiation and Recruitment
In August 2013, Rob Savinelli was named Vice President, Talent Strategy, Negotiation, and Recruitment. His responsibilities include the strategic placement and recruitment of all existing and new talent, as well negotiating long-term talent contracts across ESPN media platforms. He is based at the company’s headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
Savinelli’s path to his current role has been non-traditional to say the least. He began his career with ESPN in June 1997 as a Staff Accountant in the Finance organization, and quickly rose through the ranks over the years to the level of Senior Director, where he continued to hold positions of greater responsibility and complexity.
In his last role in the Finance organization, Savinelli had direct oversight in the financial reporting, consolidation, and performance analysis of all ESPN business units, including the preparation and communication of key management reporting for the Walt Disney Company. In that role, he also provided strategic and financial support for various business initiatives across all ESPN lines of business.
In January 2011, Savinelli was identified as one of eight employees Company-wide to participate in ESPN’s inaugural Executive Job Rotation Program, an initiative created to provide a job enrichment experience to high performing individuals and enhance their exposure to and knowledge of the company. As such, Savinelli spent the better part of 2011 temporarily assigned to ESPN’s Talent Office, where he quickly made his mark in meaningful ways on many high profile talent acquisitions and negotiations, as well as provided unique and fresh perspectives that have positively impacted the department. In February 2012, Savinelli officially transitioned as a permanent member of the Talent Office.
Prior to joining ESPN, Savinelli worked at Ernst & Young in both their Boston and Hartford, Conn., offices, and is a Certified Public Accountant. A native of New Haven, Conn., Savinelli graduated from Boston College in 1994 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Accounting. Savinelli now resides in Glastonbury, Conn., with his wife, Kimberly and two daughters, Kate and Allison.
