Sophie Coleman

Vice President of Data Strategy and Program Management
Sophie Coleman is vice president of Data Strategy and Program Management. In this role, Coleman oversees ESPN’s global data strategy management and coordinates data-driven efforts shaping key advertising sales strategies. Based in New York, Coleman reports to Vikram Somaya, senior vice president, Global Data Officer.
Coleman joined ESPN from The Nielsen Company, where as vice president of digital enablement she led the company’s technology transformation project. During her six-year tenure, Coleman spent a year in Shanghai, China, serving as Nielsen’s operation lead where she managed a cross-functional team that supported double-digit revenue growth. She joined the organization in 2009 as director of product management and was promoted to vice president of digital product integration followed by vice president of global strategic initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Coleman served as vice president of product management for Phorm in London, U.K., supervising a team that developed behavioral ad targeting systems. Prior to that, she was director of product management at Whenu.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of London. Coleman also graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Comparative Media Studies degree.
