Vice President and Editorial Director, Global Digital Content

Patrick Stiegman is Vice President and Editorial Director, Global Digital Content, overseeing the development of ESPN’s digital editorial content around the world. Stiegman leads the editorial efforts for more than 20 international editions of, global sport verticals such as and, and coverage of major global events, working closely with ESPN’s international digital product and the DTCI global business teams.

The role includes global editorial standards, content and project development, integrated editorial creation and regional coverage, with oversight of writers, multimedia contributors and designers across multiple languages and markets, including Europe, Africa, India, North and Southeast Asia, Australia and Latin America. 

He has chaired the ESPN Editorial Board and contributes to ESPN’s cross-platform enterprise, commentary and investigative journalism. Previously, Stiegman was Vice President, Editorial Director, Digital and Print Media, leading content and editorial direction of ESPN’s domestic digital and print properties, managing an award-winning team across and ESPN The Magazine. 

Stiegman joined in April 2004, overseeing premium content and daily sports coverage, and later served as Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Prior to joining ESPN, he spent five years as vice president/editor of Journal Interactive, the award-winning Internet division of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where he was responsible for editorial, business and strategic development of Journal Communication’s new media initiatives.  He previously held senior management, editing, columnist and reporting roles at several Wisconsin newspapers, wire and online services, including Journal Interactive, the Milwaukee SentinelBadger Plus magazine, the Wisconsin State Journal and both AP and UPI.

Though he only embraced the sport in recent years, Stiegman has become an avid runner, having completed more than 100 half marathons, 21 marathons and two IRONMAN 70.3-mile races since 2012. He has finished three Boston Marathons, four New York City Marathons, two Marine Corps Marathons and two Walt Disney World Marathons, including runDisney’s  “Dopey Challenge” in 2019. 

Stiegman was a 2012 Fellow in the Sulzberger Executive Leadership program at the Graduate School of Journalism and School of Business at Columbia University. He is also a 1988 honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where he was a University Scholar in the UW-Oshkosh Journalism School and minored in communications and political science.
