NFL Nation Reporter: Atlanta Falcons
ESPN NFL Nation reporter Vaughn McClure joined ESPN in September of 2013. He covers the Atlanta Falcons from a national view while assisting with various projects related to the league and the NFC South division.
As the Falcons’ reporter, McClure’s daily tasks include providing breaking news, statistical analysis, in-depth features, and video updates related to the team. His first two seasons on the beat included news coverage of the firing of head coach Mike Smith as well as NFL officials assessing penalties against the Falcons for illegally piping crowd noise into their own stadium.
McClure previously worked at the Chicago Tribune for seven years, primarily as the Chicago Bears beat writer (2008-2014). He chronicled the details behind the team’s parting with legendary linebacker Brian Urlacher. He also assisted with NBA coverage of the Chicago Bulls during their postseason appearances.
McClure has appeared on various ESPN national shows including SportsCenter, NFL Live and NFL Insiders.
A Chicago native, McClure currently resides in suburban Atlanta. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, with a degree in journalism. His first position was at the DeKalb Daily Chronicle as a general assignment reporter covering the police, fire, courts, park district, and school board beats. He also worked at the South Bend Tribune, Fresno Bee, and Chicago-Sun Times.
