ESPN selected several of its Western Athletic Conference (WAC) college football game telecasts for the 2010 season kicking off with a season-opening contest pitting annual national power USC, of the Pac-10, at Hawaii Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11 p.m. on ESPN.
At least seven of the WAC’s nine teams will make at least one appearance in 2010. Highlights of early selections:
- Boise State, entering the season with a 14-game winning streak, will be televised six times, highlighted by games against Oregon State of the Pac-10 (Saturday, Sept. 25) and conference rival Fresno State (Friday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN2), and at Nevada in a rematch of the game that decided last year’s conference champion (Friday, Nov. 26, at 10:15 p.m. on ESPN2). In a previously announced telecast, Boise State will open the season against Virginia Tech from FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins, Labor Day Monday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
- In addition to a telecast against Boise State, ESPN2 will televise Fresno State against Cincinnati of the BIG EAST opening weekend, Saturday, Sept. 4, at 10 p.m.
- A Friday night non-conference showdown will pit Nevada against the Pac-10’s California Sept. 17, at 10 p.m. on ESPN2.
- A Friday night telecast Oct. 1 will pit BYU from the Mountain West Conference at intrastate foe Utah State.
