ESPN Launches ESPN360 in Chile
Announces the Launch of ESPN360 in Chile for Users of GO!, the VTR Broadband Service.
ESPN announced today the launch of ESPN360 Chile on VTR-owned GO!, the country’s largest provider of broadband Internet access. Continuing ESPN’s heritage of utilizing technology to reach sports fans, ESPN360 Chile is the third version of the signature broadband sports video service in Latin America, following Mexico (launched in 2007) and Brazil (2008). The broadband service first launched in the U.S. in January, 2005.
The ESPN360 platform features exclusive, on-demand sports video, live events and high quality long-format video. ESPN360 Chile is similar to its U.S. counterpart. Subscribers will have access to exclusive events such as live UEFA Champions League matches, Italian Serie A soccer, and the Indianapolis 500, among other major sporting events. ESPN360 Chile will also feature local content including a growing library of Spanish-language video and events like International X Games and original studio news shows such as ESPN Estudio, Simplemente Fútbol, ESPN Perfiles and ESPN Recuerda, among others, all with the goal of serving the fan with localized content.
“The expansion of ESPN360 product is in line with the company’s overall strategy to deliver globally- and locally-relevant content to fans around the world,” said Tim Bunnell, senior vice president, programming and marketing, ESPN International. “This product delivers fans a new and dynamic sports entertainment experience, based on great content and leading broadband technology, just as ESPN360 has done before in the U.S., Mexico, Brazil and in other countries around the world.”
ESPN currently offers a variety of services in Chile including two television networks (ESPN and ESPN+ serving the Southern cone), ESPNdeportes.com, and ESPN Radio.
