NASCAR Nationwide Series Live from Nashville on ESPN2
The NASCAR Nationwide Series races in prime time for 300 miles at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, June 5, and ESPN2 will have a live, flag-to-flag telecast presented by Pennzoil. NASCAR Countdown airs at 7 p.m. ET, while the race telecast starts at 8 p.m. with the green flag at 8:15 p.m. ESPN2 is the home of the series all season, with selected races airing on ESPN and ABC.
Also from Nashville, ESPN2 airs coverage of NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and final practice on Friday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Vince Welch will be the lap-by-lap announcer, joined in the booth for analysis by 1999 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Dale Jarrett and two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion crew chief Andy Petree. Pit reporters will be Jamie Little, Dr. Jerry Punch and Shannon Spake. Reports from two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion crew chief Tim Brewer will air from the ESPN Craftsman Tech Garage.
Allen Bestwick will host NASCAR Countdown from the ESPN pit studio, with analysis by Jarrett and Brad Daugherty, a team owner in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Reporter Roundtable on NASCAR Now
The panel on NASCAR Now’s weekly roundtable discussion program will take on a different look on Monday, June 7, at 5 p.m. ET as three journalists who regularly cover NASCAR racing sit down with host Allen Bestwick. NASCAR Now is ESPN2’s daily NASCAR news and information program.
Jenna Fryer, motorsports writer for the Associated Press, will join Dustin Long, president of the National Motorsports Press Association and writer for the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot and other newspapers in the Landmark chain, and Jeff Gluck, NASCAR writer for SBNation.com, as they discuss and debate the latest NASCAR news.
Half-hour episodes of NASCAR Now air Tuesday through Friday of this week, including Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with Nicole Briscoe hosting. Briscoe also hosts the weekend edition on Sunday, June 6, at 9 a.m., with a preview of that day’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway. Mike Massaro and Angelique Chengelis will report from Pocono.
NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series in Joliet
The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series races this weekend in the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Ill., and ESPN2 will air highlights of qualifying and eliminations. Qualifying action airs Saturday, June 5, at 11 p.m. ET, and coverage of eliminations airs Sunday at 4 p.m.
Stadium-like Route 66 Raceway, which opened in 1998 just outside of Chicago, has regularly been the site of astounding performances. The event is the site of the JEGS Allstars, which pits the best NHRA Lucas Oil Series racers from across the country in individual and team competition. The event also is the sixth of the season for Pro Stock Motorcycle riders.
Paul Page anchors ESPN2’s coverage with analysis by 22-time NHRA winner Mike Dunn. Gary Gerould and Dave Rieff report from the pits. Rieff and Dunn host NHRA RaceDay presented by Lucas Oil on Sunday at 10 a.m. to set the stage for that day’s eliminations action.
