Desmond Howard Joins Analyst and Play-by-Play Team
ESPNU and ESPN3.com will provide extensive coverage of the second annual ESPN RISE Games Presented by Target, Sun., Jul. 18 through Thurs., Jul. 29. Event coverage will include more than 30 hours of live and pre-taped programming featuring elite and competitive level student-athlete sporting events from the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; the nation’s leading multi-sport complex for amateur and professional sports, in suburban Orlando, Fla.
ESPNU programming will include elite event coverage of the Champion High School Showcase, the AAU 17-under Boys Basketball Super Showcase Presented By Champion®, the Under Armour High School Softball All-America game and the elite 7-on-7 high school football event Champion® Gridiron Kings. ESPN3.com live event streaming will include basketball, lacrosse, track & field and softball events.
Desmond Howard has joined the team of ESPN analysts and play-by-play announcers for the ESPN RISE Games Presented by Target; he will join Tom Luginbill and Justin Kutcher during the Champion Gridiron Kings telecast. ESPN’s Garland Cooper, Joe Beninati, Quint Kessenich, Adrian Branch and Paul Biancardi will also provide event analysis and play-by-play commentary for the ESPN RISE Games ESPNU programming; while Kevin Corke, Michael Cain, Casey Powell, Al Keck, Mike Wise and Nicole Trimboli will for ESPN3.com programming.

The ESPN RISE Games Presented by Target is a two-week-long elite and competitive level student-athlete focused events, anchored by four elite high school sports events: the Champion High School Showcase, a US Lacrosse boys and girls event, the AAU 17-under Boys Basketball Super Showcase Presented By Champion®, the Under Armour High School Softball All-America game and the elite 7-on-7 high school football event Champion® Gridiron Kings. The ESPN RISE Games’ competitive channel youth sports include boys and girls lacrosse, softball, football, baseball, basketball, field hockey and track & field. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which hosts more than 300 events a year, is the leading multi-sport venue for amateur and professional sports in the United States, accommodating 60 different sports and athletes from more than 70 countries.
