 For the first time, ESPN3.com, ESPN’s sports event broadband network in more than 53 million homes and delivering 3,500 events annually, will feature live coverage of 24 UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying matches on Friday, Sept. 3 and Tuesday, Sept. 7.  Beginning tomorrow, the matches on ESPN3.com will kick-off a series of 18 match dates through October 2011 for qualifying competition that will determine the 16 teams (from among 51) that will compete in the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship in Poland and Ukraine (June 8 – July 1, 2012)

 Highlights:

  • Euro 2008 champion and 2010 FIFA World Cup winner Spain will kick-off its defense of the European title at Liechtenstein (also on ESPN Deportes)
  • The top-three teams (Spain, Netherlands and Germany) from the 2010 FIFA World Cup will play their first competitive matches since South Africa
  • Five of the top 10 teams in the FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings will be competing: Spain (1), Netherlands (2), Germany (4), England (7) and Portugal (8)
  • ESPN3.com and ESPN Deportes will also combine to televise the international friendly between #1 Spain and #5 Argentina Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. ET
  • ESPN Deportes will air select matches on tape delay.
