Network Recognized in the Case Studies/Campaigns Category for their NYC Dominican Baseball Campaign executed with Time Warner Cable’s NYC Region
ESPN Deportes, the Spanish-language 24-hour sports network, was selected as the 3rd place winner in the Case Studies/Campaigns category for Network Industry Supplier Division in the 2010 NAMIC Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards (EMMA), for the ESPN Deportes and Time Warner Cable – NYC Dominican Baseball Campaign in 2009.
ESPN’s partnership with Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region for the NYC Dominican Baseball Campaign proved to be a successful promotion that drove acquisition for Time Warner Cable’s El Paquetazo digital cable package, increased awareness of ESPN Deportes and delivered solid media value in the New York market. This marketing tactic was targeted to a specific male Hispanic demo, specifically of Dominican-descent. It was meant to appeal to the passionate Dominican baseball fan who wouldn’t want to miss any of the Winter League Baseball action this season. The overall goal was to grow El Paquetazo subscribers and call volume through a trackable 800 number. The direct outreach to the consumer via TV, radio, print & PR stunts combined with strong support from a turn-key CSR incentive program provided great support for the effort and measurable results.
“We are very thrilled and honored to be receiving this award and to be part of the annual NAMIC Awards,” stated Lino García, General Manager of ESPN Deportes. “This is yet another achievement for the network and we are delighted to be recognized for our accomplishment with the Dominican baseball marketing initiative with Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region last year.”
The award is to be honored at the 24th Annual NAMIC Conference taking place September 14 at the Hilton New York in Manhattan. Ernesto Jerez, legendary baseball play-by-play commentator for ESPN Deportes, will serve as host of the Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards ceremony.
