ESPN announced today it will televise TCU vs. BYU in a neutral site showdown between former Mountain West Conference rivals at Cowboys Stadium Friday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The matchup will mark the second time each school has played in the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, located in Arlington, Texas – both televised on ESPN. BYU defeated Oklahoma 14-13 in the first college football game at the venue on Sept. 5, 2009 and TCU beat Oregon St 30-21 in the 2010 Cowboys Classic on Sept. 4.
This season marks the beginning of an eight-year agreement between ESPN and BYU for exclusive rights to BYU home football games across multiple ESPN platforms. As part of the pact, ESPN receives first selection rights to all BYU home games and any neutral site matchups in which the school is the designated home team. Games can be televised on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays across ESPN, ESPN on ABC, ESPN2 and ESPNU with simulcasts on ESPN3.com, ESPN Mobile TV and ESPN GamePlan.
In addition to TCU vs. BYU, an ESPN platform will televise LSU vs. Oregon Saturday, Sept. 3 as part of the third annual Cowboys Classic from Cowboys Stadium.
