Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Chicago and ESPN Deportes Radio announced today the launch of 97.5 ESPN Deportes, a new Spanish language sports radio station in Chicago, effective Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.  97.5 ESPN Deportes will be Chicago’s first commercial FM radio station devoted to broadcasting continuous Spanish language sports coverage. The 97.5 signal will cover downtown Chicago and will also reach largely Hispanic/Latino neighborhood communities, including Cicero, Berwyn and Pilsen.

“We are excited to expand our Chicago Hispanic platform with the addition of 97.5 ESPN Deportes,” said Earl Jones, President and Market Manager for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Chicago. “Our partnership with ESPN Deportes means we will now be able to offer greater programming diversity to the market’s rapidly increasing Hispanic population.”

97.5 ESPN Deportes will offer a variety of Spanish language sports programming which will cater to the Hispanic sports enthusiast.  The full programming line-up will be announced in the next several weeks.  The new Spanish language sports station in Chicago will be overseen by Ricardo Otero, Program Director for Mega 95.5 (WNUA-FM).  97.5 ESPN Deportes will also be available online via espndeporteschicago.com.
