The second season of espnW’s In the Game with Robin Roberts presented by Lexus will debut Thursday, June 20, online at espnW.com and abcnews.com, as well as on ESPN’s SportsCenter. In the Game, produced by espnW in partnership with ABC News, is a series of intimate interviews with top athletes in sports today. In the season premiere, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts – formerly a longtime ESPN anchor – sits down for a one-on-one with NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.
“Robin Roberts is a respected journalist and life-long athlete,” said Laura Gentile, vice president, espnW. “In the Game enables Robin to connect with today’s athletes in an intimate setting and uncover insights and stories that truly illuminate them as people. It’s a unique platform and one in which only Robin could bring such power and meaning.”
The interviews will focus on “pursuit of perfection” in each athlete’s career, sport, and life. In addition to Patrick, confirmed guests include US Women’s National team forward Alex Morgan and Gold Medal gymnast Gabby Douglas. Full length interviews and complementary content including additional clips, a video archive and photos will be available at espnW.com/inthegame and abcnews.com/inthegame.
“I’ll probably always be an athlete at heart,” said ABC News’ Robin Roberts. “I appreciate espnW bringing me back for a second season. There’s so much we can all learn from these top athletes. I also enjoy bringing out a side of them rarely seen. Teaming up again with espnW is a perfect fit.”
Fans are also encouraged to participate in the interviews by tweeting their questions for the athletes to espnW’s Twitter handle @espnW and official hashtag of the series, #ThePursuit.
