Analysts Jeff Van Gundy, Jon Barry to Call Three Games This Week

ABC will broadcast an NBA doubleheader on Sunday, March 9, when the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat and LeBron James visit the Chicago Bulls and Joakim Noah at 1 p.m. ET. Mike Breen, analyst Jeff Van Gundy and reporter Lisa Salters will provide commentary. At 3:30 p.m., the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder and scoring leader Kevin Durant visit the Los Angeles Lakers and Pau Gasol. Mike Tirico will call the action with analyst Hubie Brown and reporter Heather Cox. Both games are also available on ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes. NBA Countdown with Sage Steele, Doug Collins, Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons precedes the doubleheader at 12:30 p.m. on ABC.

NBA on ESPN
Throughout the week, analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Jon Barry will both call three games across platforms. In addition to Sunday’s ABC broadcast, Van Gundy will join Breen as the Denver Nuggets and Ty Lawson host the Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki on Wednesday, March 5, at 8 p.m. on ESPN. From Denver, he’ll travel to Houston on Friday, March 7, to join Dave Pasch for a showdown between the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers – led by Paul George and Roy Hibbert – and the Houston Rockets with James Harden and Dwight Howard at 9:30 p.m.

Barry’s week will begin with Mark Jones in Portland, Ore. on Wednesday, March 5, as the Atlanta Hawks and Jeff Teague visit the Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard at 10:30 p.m. On Thursday, March 6, Barry will join Kevin Calabro as the Heat and James meet the San Antonio Spurs and Tim Duncan in an NBA Finals rematch on ESPN Radio at 7 p.m. On Friday, March 7, he’ll team with Ryan Ruocco and Lisa Salters in Chicago as the Memphis Grizzlies and Zach Randolph visit the Bulls and Noah at 7 p.m.

Studio Programming

  • Kia NBA Countdown precedes Wednesday’s doubleheader at 7:30 p.m. with Doris Burke, Avery Johnson and Rose.
  • NBA Coast to Coast will air on Tuesday, March 4, at 9 p.m. on ESPN2 with live look-ins to action across the league with host Jonathan Coachman and analysts Tim Legler, Tom Penn, P.J. Carlesimo and ESPN NBA Insider J.A. Adande.
  • SportsCenter coverage will include insights from Legler, Penn, Carlesimo and George Karl throughout the week.

ESPN Radio
In addition to Thursday’s Heat-Spurs broadcast, ESPN Radio will provide coverage of Sunday’s ABC doubleheader. Marc Kestecher and analyst Bruce Bowen will call the Heat-Bulls game with coverage beginning at 12 p.m. followed by Thunder-Lakers at 3:30 p.m. with Kevin Calabro and analyst Stan Van Gundy.
