Women’s College Basketball: Annual Play 4Kay Initiative Tips Off Sunday

ESPN2 and ESPNU will air five women’s college basketball games Sunday, Feb. 22, as part of the annual Play 4Kay initiative – highlighting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with The V Foundation and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). In its ninth year, Play 4Kay is in memory of former NC State head coach Kay Yow, who lost her long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Additional Production details

Play 4Kay Highlights

  • Analysts Kara Lawson and Rebecca Lobo will join host Kevin Negandhi in the studio.
  • Opening Play 4Kay on Sunday is No. 11 Duke at NC State at noon, followed by No. 18 Rutgers traveling to Michigan State at 2 p.m. – both on ESPN2. Pac-12 in-state rivals, California at No. 19 Stanford play Sunday at 4 p.m. on ESPN2.
  • American opponents Temple and No. 25 USF meet Sunday at noon on ESPNU. SEC opponents LSU and Arkansas tangle on Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.

Also this week, ESPN3 has a full slate of ACC matchups on Thursday including ranked teams: No. 8 Louisville, No. 9 Florida State and No. 17 North Carolina.

SEC Network has a doubleheader on Thursday and Sunday.

  • Vanderbilt faces Florida at 7 p.m. on Thursday, followed by No. 2 South Carolina at Arkansas at 9 p.m.
  • Missouri travels to Vanderbilt at 2 p.m. on Sunday, followed by Florida at No. 15 Texas A&M at 9 p.m.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
