The Nationals: Journey to #1 Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods Premieres June 24 on ESPNU at 8 p.m. EST

One-hour documentary provides an inside look into the teams, players and storylines of the 2015 DICK’S High School Nationals Basketball Tournament

A champion was crowned at Madison Square Garden on April 4, when the most elite high school basketball programs in the country competed in the DICK’S High School Nationals. This documentary follows the players, coaches and teams from Florida, to Washington, to Virginia as they converge in New York City to answer the question, “Who is the best high school basketball team in the country?”

The Nationals: Journey to #1 profiles college basketball’s next generation. Storylines include Ben Simmons, an international player from Australia who came to Montverde Academy (FL) to hone his skills and quickly became the No. 1-ranked recruit in the country. The film also profiles Laura Stockton, daughter of NBA legend John Stockton, who led her Gonzaga Prep (WA) team into the tournament with a 50-game winning streak. And it takes a look at the story of Terrence Phillips, point-guard of storied Oak Hill Academy (VA), the No. 1-ranked team in the nation heading into the tournament, looking to avenge their loss in the 2014 DICK’S Nationals championship game.

The Nationals: Journey to #1 documentary showcases the incredible determination, perseverance and talent that it takes to be crowned the number one high school basketball team in the country and a champion of this amazing event” said Mark Rooks, Vice President, Sports & Community Marketing, DICK’S Sporting Goods.  The documentary was produced by DICK’S Sporting Goods Films in-conjunction with Paragon Marketing Group.
