College Basketball Media Days: ESPN Covers 12 Conferences

ESPN will cover 12 college basketball conference media days in advance of the 2015-16 season highlighted by ESPNU televising five College Basketball Live episodes over the next two weeks. ESPNU’s College Basketball Live episodes will coincide with preseason events from the Big Ten and Pac-12 (Oct. 15 from 4-5 p.m. ET), Big 12 (Oct. 20 from 4-5 p.m. ET), SEC (Oct. 21 from 1-3 p.m.), and American (Oct. 27 from 4-5 p.m.) before concluding with the ACC (Oct. 28 from 1-4 p.m.). In addition to media day content, each episode will preview the upcoming season.

College Basketball Live will originate from ESPNU’s Charlotte, N.C. studios with analysts and reporters on location as the conferences hold their annual tip-off events.  Jeff Goodman and Sean Harrington will be in Chicago (Big Ten), Roxy Bernstein and Corey Williams will report from San Francisco (Pac-12), Fran Fraschilla and Miles Simon will travel to Kansas City (Big 12) and Tim Welsh and Brooke Weisbrod will be in Orlando (American). Andy Katz will anchor College Basketball Live in Charlotte and be joined in studio by Dino Gaudio (Big Ten/Pac 12) and Seth Greenberg (Big 12/American).

The ACC men and SEC men’s and women’s media days will be held in Charlotte, the home of ESPNU and SEC Network, with coaches and players in studio.

Highlights:

  • Deep Discussion: Head coach roundtables will be held with Jay Bilas (ACC), Dari Nowkhah (SEC men) and Maria Taylor (SEC women) leading the conversation.
  • Insight: Interviews with head coaches and key players.
  • On the Court: Student-athletes will demonstrate their moves alongside ESPN analysts — Jay Williams and Cory Alexander (ACC), Sean Farnham (SEC men) and Nell Fortner and Carolyn Peck (SEC women).
  • Coaches Clicker: Head coaches break down game film with Greenberg and Gaudio (SEC/ACC men) and Debbie Antonelli (SEC women) providing insight into the X’s and O’s of the game.
  • Fast Break: Head coaches answer rapid fire questions on college basketball and their personality.
  • Rules of the Game: Newly appointed NCAA national coordinator of men’s officiating, D. Collins will provide guidance on some of the most important and new rules in college basketball.

On ESPNU, Greenberg and Gaudio will be in-studio for both, with Katz (SEC) and Schick (ACC) anchoring.

SEC Tip Off on SEC Network
SEC Network will also provide coverage of SEC Tip Off, the conference’s men’s and women’s media day events on its flagship program SEC Now – men’s (Oct. 21 at 10 p.m.) and women’s (Oct. 22 at 9 p.m.)  In addition to segments with coaches and players referenced above, SEC Now will also televise segments of the roundtables hosted by Nowkhah and Taylor.

ESPN3
ESPN3 will provide coverage of four additional conference media days: Horizon and Mountain West (October 14), MAAC (Oct. 21), Big South (Oct. 26), Missouri Valley (Oct. 27) and Atlantic Sun (Nov. 4). The network will also cover ACC women’s (Oct. 21) and men’s media day as well.
