Canadian Football League Games Return to ESPN for 2016 Season

Preseason Schedule Kicks Off Wednesday, June 8

ESPN will televise 20 Canadian Football League (CFL) games in 2016 – including the 104th Grey Cup Championship – and an additional 69 games will be available on ESPN3. The 89-game schedule is part of a multi-year agreement with the CFL that began in 2014, which grants ESPN exclusive rights to present the league’s games in the United States.

The schedule kicks off with four preseason matchups on ESPN3, beginning Wednesday, June 8, when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the Montreal Alouettes at 8 p.m. ET.

The league’s regular season games begin Thursday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNEWS when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit their renowned rivals the Toronto Argonauts. The game marks the move of the Argonauts outdoors to the renovated BMO Field where the 104th Grey Cup will be played. The season opener will feature a concert and tailgate party. ESPN’s complete schedule of CFL games will be announced at a later date.

ESPN telecasts will utilize production and commentators teams from TSN, Canada’s Sports Leader.
