Men’s College Basketball: Top-10 Rivalry Game Pits Kentucky vs. Louisville, Closes out Holiday Hoops

The Sonic Blockbuster game showcasing No. 6 Kentucky at No. 10 Louisville – on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN – closes out ESPN’s Holiday Hoops presented by Zales schedule. The game will be called by Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Maria Taylor, with Bilas appearing on Mike & Mike Wednesday morning, plus hits on PTI and SportsCenter prior to the game, from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville.

In addition, College GameDay Covered by State Farm – preceding the game at 6:30 p.m. – will be live on site with Rece Davis, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams for halftime, pre- and post-game coverage.

The game can also be seen on ESPN3 Surround – featuring in-arena natural sound and views from above the rim cameras at each end of the floor. ESPN.com will have two writers’ onsite, Eamonn Brennan and Brian Bennett, plus full pre- and post-game content.

Schedule highlights:

  • Several ranked teams on the schedule include No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 10 Louisville, No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Wisconsin and No. 22 South Carolina
  • An ESPN2 tripleheader on Wednesday, Dec. 21, includes a ranked team in each game – Elon at No. 5 Duke (6 p.m.), Northern Iowa at No. 8 North Carolina (8 p.m.) and No. 12 Virginia at Cal (10 p.m.)
  • No. 22 South Carolina appears twice – at home against Clemson on Wednesday on ESPNU (9 p.m.) and again at home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, against Lander on SEC Network (7 p.m.)
  • Also on Tuesday, No. 14 Wisconsin hosts Rutgers in Big Ten action on ESPN2 (7 p.m.)

The Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic tips off Thursday, Dec. 22, with quarterfinal action:

  • An ESPNU opens the Classic with Tulsa vs. Stephen F. Austin (4:30 p.m.), followed by San Diego vs. Southern Miss on ESPN2 (7 p.m.), San Francisco vs. Utah on ESPNU (11 p.m.) and Illinois State vs. Hawaii on ESPNU (1:30 a.m.)
  • The semifinals continue on Friday, on ESPN2 (4:30 p.m. & 10 p.m.), with the title game on Sunday, on ESPN2 (8 p.m.)

Rachel Margolis Siegal

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
