Men’s College Basketball: SEC/Big 12 Challenge Overtakes Saturday Schedule

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will present the 10 games of the fourth-annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge presented by Sonic on Saturday, Jan. 28 – a common-bye date during the conference season. The day is highlighted by the top-5 Saturday Primetime presented by AT&T matchup between No. 2 Kansas at No. 5 Kentucky (ESPN & ESPN3 Surround, 6:15 p.m.), also the site of College GameDay Covered by State Farm (ESPN, 11 a.m. & 6 p.m.)

Addition ranked teams in action as part of the Challenge include No. 18 West Virginia hosting Texas A&M (ESPN, noon), No. 25 Florida at Oklahoma (ESPN, 2 p.m.) and No. 5 Baylor at Ole Miss (ESPN2, 6 p.m.).

The Big Monday presented by EBay doubleheader showcases the ACC and Big 12 on ESPN through the remainder of the regular season. In addition, ESPNU presents a regular schedule of night games, primarily involving the Big 12, MEAC or SWAC. Highlights:

  • A top-25 ACC matchup on January 30, showcases No. 17 Duke at No. 14 Notre Dame at 7 p.m., followed by Oklahoma State at Oklahoma – both on ESPN

The Super Tuesday presented by CenturyLink highlights an ESPN Big Ten and SEC doubleheader, as well as a weekly ESPN2 prime-time matchup featuring the Big 12, plus the ACC and SEC on ESPNU with select Mountain West games. highlights:

  • The ESPN doubleheader on January 31, features ranked teams with No. 22 Maryland facing Ohio State at 7 p.m., followed by Georgia at No. 4 Kentucky
  • ESPN2’s doubleheader showcases No. 9 North Carolina hosting Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. and No. 18 West Virginia traveling to Iowa State immediately after

Additional schedule highlights:

  • ESPN2 will air the Crosstown Shootout between No. 24 Xavier and No. 19 Cincinnati on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.

Rachel Margolis Siegal

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
