Complete NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship Field to be Announced Sunday on ESPNU

  • Four No. 1 Seeds Announced on Twitter at 11:30 a.m. ET; Entire 16-Team Field on ESPNU at Noon
  • ESPN with Complete Coverage of the Championship, Including Frozen Four

ESPN and the NCAA will unveil the 16-team field for the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship on Sunday, March 19, with the No. 1 seeds announced first on Twitter (approximately 11:30 a.m. ET)  and then the complete bracket on a 30-minute 2017 NCAA Hockey Selection Special Presented by Northwestern Mutual on ESPNU (noon).

The four No. 1 seeds will be first announced — in alphabetical order — by the NCAA via Twitter using the @NCAAIceHockey. Moments later, after receiving the official bracket from the NCAA, ESPN’s John Buccigross will take to his twitter account (@Buccigross) to announce the region where each of the No. 1 seeds will play (East, Midwest, Northeast or West). ESPN Bottomline will follow Buccigross’ Twitter announcement and have the same information scrolling across ESPN’s networks.

Buccigross will then host the 2017 NCAA Hockey Selection Special Presented and announce the complete field, including which team is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. Sean Ritchlin and Dave Starman will provide analysis and select head coaches will join the show.

ESPN to Cover Entire NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship
ESPN will provide complete coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship beginning with regional action (March 24-26) and concluding with the Frozen Four (April 6 & 8).  Details will be announced next week.
