In March, ESPN has extensive coverage of tennis’ two biggest tournaments outside the four Majors – the BNP Paribas Open from Indian Wells, Calif., and the Miami Open presented by Itaú, including the most digital coverage ever with over 1100 total hours on WatchESPN. The 48 hours on TV and WatchESPN includes the women’s and men’s semifinals and championships from both events. In addition, the multi-court presentation on WatchESPN starts with first round coverage of each tournament – Wednesday, March 8, at Indian Wells and Wednesday, March 22, in Miami.

ESPN’s lead tennis host Chris Fowler will work both events, joined in California by Patrick McEnroe, Chrissie Evert, Brad Gilbert and Pam Shriver; and in Florida by Darren Cahill, Cliff Drysdale, Mary Joe Fernandez and Gilbert.

Miami Open presented by Itaú, Miami

  • WatchESPN: 582 total hours of daily coverage of ATP and WTA matches March 22 – April 2, featuring ATP matches with multiple feed offerings from up to eight courts (Stadium, Grandstand, Courts 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 10).
  • TV and WatchESPN: 25 hours, begins Wednesday, March 29, and continues through the Women’s Championship (Sat., April 1) and the Men’s Championship (Sun., April 2) on ESPN2.

BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells, Calif.

  • World No. 2, 12-time Major champion and defending champion Novak Djokovic will be playing for his fourth consecutive win and sixth overall victory at Indian Wells (2008, 2011, 2014-2016).
  • Seven-time Major singles champion Venus Williams will also join the action for the second consecutive year.
  • No. 2 Angelique Kerber and No. 1 Andy Murray will be looking for their first even Indian Wells victory.
  • The top-10 from the ATP and nine of the top-10 from the WTA are entered for the BNP Paribas Open, including former Indian Wells champions Roger Federer (2004-2006, 2012), Rafael Nadal (2007, 2009, 2013), Simona Halep (2015), Caroline Wozniacki (2011) and Jelena Jankovic (2010).

Miami Open presented by Itaú, Miami

  • The ATP field features 18-time Major champion Roger Federer, 14-time Major champion Rafael Nadal, three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka, and former US Open champions Juan Martin del Potro and Marin Cilic.
  • The WTA field features seven-time Major champion Venus Williams, two-time Major champion Angelique Kerber, Olympic Gold Medalist and Miami native Monica Puig and reigning French Open champion Garbiñe Muguruza.

*Notably missing is the WTA defending champion of both events, Victoria Azarenka, currently on maternity leave.
