ESPN New York 98.7FM Raises Money for the V Foundation at the Tee It Up Golf Classic

ESPN New York 98.7 FM held its 13th annual Tee It Up Golf Classic on Monday, Aug. 14, at the Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, N.Y. The golf tournament raised close to $15,000 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research through a silent auction of sports memorabilia, raffles and hole-prize competitions (longest drive, closest to the line and on the green).
Attendees of the scramble-format tournament were local sports celebrities, ESPN on-air hosts, 98.7FM contest winners and station sponsors. Attendees included Super Bowl champions Chris Canty, Damien Woody and Jeff Feagles alongside SportsCenter host Jay Harris, former New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro and former New York Jets linebackers Greg Buttle and Chad Cascadden. Alan Hahn, DiPietro and Canty co-host 98.7FM’s midday show Hahn, Humpty & Canty (weekdays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.). Other ESPN on-air hosts in attendance were Dave Rothenberg and Bill Daughtry.

About the V Foundation for Cancer Research
The V Foundation for Cancer Research is dedicated to declaring victory over cancer. It was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State Basketball coach and ESPN commentator. Since 1993, the Foundation has funded more than $170 million in cancer research grants nationwide. It awards 100 percent of all direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs. Due to generous donors, the Foundation has an endowment that covers administrative expenses. Not a Moment to Lose, its boldest fundraising campaign to date, aims to raise $200 million for cancer research by 2020 to help transform the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. The Foundation awards peer-reviewed grants through a competitive awards process vetted by a world-renowned Scientific Advisory Committee.
