MNF was Monday Night’s Most-Watched Telecast in All Categories
MNF Viewership Continues to be up Season-to-Date
Last night’s Monday Night Football game – an Atlanta Falcons’ 34-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks – averaged 10.8 million viewers across ESPN and ESPN Deportes, according to Nielsen. MNF was the most-watched telecast on Monday night among households, viewers and all key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49 and 25-54), while ESPN won the night among all key male and adult demos for the 11th consecutive Monday.
- On ESPN, Falcons-Seahawks averaged a 6.4 US household rating and 10.8 million viewers. The telecast peaked from 9:45-10 p.m. ET with a 7.3 US household rating and 12.4 million viewers.
- On ESPN Deportes, Falcons-Seahawks averaged an additional 81,000 viewers.
Note: The MNF audience is likely to grow by eight percent once all streaming and out-of-home audiences are included, based on ESPN’s new Nielsen Total Audience measurement.
Season-to-date: Through 11 weeks (12 games), ESPN’s MNF is averaging 10.9 million viewers, a one percent increase through week 11 a year ago (10.8 million). Additionally, during the MNF game window, ESPN digital content reaches 1.3 million devices in the average minute, a 28 percent increase year-over-year.
In Atlanta, the game delivered an 8.8 rating on ESPN and a 12.3 on WSB-ABC, for a combined 21.1 rating in the market. In Seattle, the game delivered a 15.3 rating on ESPN and a 24.1 on KIRO-CBS, for a combined 39.4 rating.
The top metered markets (not including those of the competing teams): New Orleans (13.2), Portland, Ore. (12.0), San Diego (10.7), Norfolk (9.6), Las Vegas (9.1), Jacksonville (8.9), Philadelphia (8.8), Phoenix (8.6), Austin (8.4), and Denver and Tampa-St. Petersburg (8.3).
