MNF was Monday Night’s Most-Watched Telecast in All Categories
Last night’s Monday Night Football game – a Pittsburgh Steelers’ 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals – averaged 10.9 million viewers across ESPN and ESPN Deportes, according to Nielsen, helping ESPN win the night among all networks in households, viewers and all key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49 and 25-54) for the seventh time this season. ESPN has won the night among all key male and adult demos for 13 straight weeks. Additionally, MNF was Monday night’s most-watched telecast in all categories.
- On ESPN, Steelers-Bengals averaged a 6.7 US household rating and 10.8 million viewers. The telecast peaked from 9:45-10 p.m. ET with a 7.5 US household rating and 12.1 million viewers.
- On ESPN Deportes, Steelers-Bengals averaged an additional 54,000 viewers.
Note: The MNF audience is likely to grow by eight percent once all streaming and out-of-home audiences are included, based on ESPN’s new Nielsen Total Audience measurement.
Local markets: In Pittsburgh, the game delivered an 11.4 rating on ESPN and a 27.4 on WTAE-ABC, for a combined 38.8 rating in the market. In Cincinnati, the game delivered an 11.1 rating on ESPN and a 21.7 on WLWT-NBC, for a combined 32.8 rating in the market.
The top metered markets (not including those of the competing teams): Dayton (16.5), Baltimore (12.3), Norfolk (12.1), New Orleans (12.0), Columbus (11.7), Richmond-Petersburg (11.3), San Diego (10.7), Seattle-Tacoma (9.9), Cleveland (9.8) and Buffalo (9.7).
Season-to-date: Through 13 weeks (14 games), ESPN’s MNF is averaging 10.7 million viewers. Additionally, during the MNF game window, ESPN digital content reaches 1.3 million devices in the average minute.
