Pat McAfee is an ESPN host, analyst, media executive, and entrepreneur. While widely recognized on-camera serving as host of The Pat McAfee Show and an analyst on College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, McAfee operates at the intersection of talent and business, serving as creator, executive producer, and CEO of his independent media enterprise. Renowned for his unique blend of sports insight, quick wit, and infectious energy, McAfee has built one of the most recognizable and influential independent brands in sports media, engaging millions of fans across television, streaming, and social platforms.

McAfee operates as the founder and CEO of Pat McAfee Inc. (PMI). As the executive producer and primary owner of his intellectual property, McAfee retains full creative, operational, and editorial control over his media empire. He personally negotiated landmark industry licensing and sponsorship agreements and a multi-year licensing arrangement with ESPN in 2023. Under his corporate banner, McAfee manages his own state-of-the-art studio compound (the “ThunderDome” in Indianapolis), employs a dedicated production crew, and oversees content distribution, merchandise, and live event productions.

The Pat McAfee Show joined ESPN’s daytime lineup in 2023 via a broad licensing agreement that brought the expansive audience McAfee built independently to the network’s linear and digital channels. The Emmy-nominated daily program has expanded ESPN’s daytime reach with its signature blend of unfiltered commentary, high-profile interviews, breaking sports news, and irreverent humor. Airing live weekdays, the show serves as a marquee destination for current athletes, coaches, league executives, and major figures across sports and entertainment.

McAfee joined the cast of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot in 2022. Each Saturday during the college football season, he brings his trademark expertise, enthusiasm, and analysis to college football’s premier pregame show, which has won three consecutive Emmy Awards dating back to 2023. McAfee also created one of the program’s most iconic segments: a weekly field goal challenge where a fan attempts a kick live on location for a chance to win McAfee’s own money. To date, McAfee has donated over $7 million from the segment.

Beyond his regular broadcasts, McAfee and his PMI production team headline marquee ESPN special-event alternate telecasts. These include The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular (an alternate NFL Draft presentation), Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show (an end-zone simulcast during the College Football Playoff National Championship), and special alternate presentations during the NBA Finals.

McAfee spent eight seasons in the NFL as the punter and kickoff specialist for the Indianapolis Colts (2009–2016). Drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft, he earned two Pro Bowl selections,  First-Team All-Pro honors (2014), and has been nominated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame three times.

At West Virginia University, McAfee was a First-Team All-American, a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, and a Ray Guy Award finalist. He finished his collegiate career as the Mountaineers’ all-time leading scorer among specialists and remains one of the most decorated kickers in program history.
