Vanessa Richardson is a host and reporter for the NBA on ESPN. Since 2025, she has served as co-host of Hoop Streams, ESPN’s flagship digital NBA show, alongside former NBA champion Iman Shumpert. Richardson joined ESPN in 2022 as a fill-in radio host and has expanded her role across the company’s NBA coverage.
In addition to her national responsibilities with ESPN, Richardson has been the sideline reporter for the Houston Rockets since 2022. Her work covering the team has earned three Emmy Awards, including recognition in the In-Game Reporter category.
Prior to joining ESPN, Richardson hosted a sports talk radio program on ESPN 97.5 in Houston. She also contributed to NBC’s national motorsports coverage and served as a pregame and postgame host for Houston Astros broadcasts.
Richardson spent two years as a sports anchor and reporter at KPRC, the NBC affiliate in Houston. During that time, she secured the first exclusive interview with former Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow following the club’s sign-stealing scandal, covered the final seasons of J.J. Watt’s career with the Houston Texans and reported extensively on major developments involving quarterback Deshaun Watson. Before relocating to Houston, Richardson worked as an anchor and reporter for NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati.
A native of Indiana, Richardson began her broadcasting career while attending college, serving as the in-arena host for the Indiana Pacers and as a sports correspondent for the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show. She is active with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of her late father and resides in Houston.
