ESPN will provide comprehensive coverage of the ninth annual MLB Little League Classic presented by New York Life on Sunday, Aug. 23, from Williamsport, Pa., highlighted by the Atlanta Braves taking on the Milwaukee Brewers at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Karl Ravech, analyst Eduardo Pérez and reporter Buster Olney will provide commentary on ESPN. The game will once again take place at Historic Bowman Field, showcasing the unique atmosphere surrounding the MLB Little League Classic and the connection between Major League players and Little Leaguers from around the world gathered for the Little League Baseball World Series.
First-ever MLB Little League Classic – Alumni-cast on ESPN2
For the first time, ESPN2 will present MLB Little League Classic – Alumni-cast on ESPN2 presentation of the MLB Little League Classic, featuring a commentary team with personal connections to Little League Baseball.
Mike Monaco will handle play-by-play alongside analysts Todd Frazier and Devon Travis, with the trio calling the game on-site in Williamsport.
Throughout the telecast, Monaco, Frazier and Travis will be joined by special guests, including former Major League players Jason Marquis and ESPN hockey analyst and former NHL player Ray Ferraro, all Little League Baseball World Series alumni. Andrew McCutchen will also join the Alumnicast after playing for the Pirates in the inaugural MLB Little League Classic in 2017.
Frazier played for Toms River East American Little League in New Jersey, helping lead his team to the 1998 Little League Baseball World Series championship before playing 11 seasons in Major League Baseball. Travis also competed in the Little League Baseball World Series before reaching the Major Leagues.
The alternate presentation will celebrate the Little League experience through the perspective of former players who went from Little League diamonds to the highest levels of baseball, while capturing the sights, sounds and traditions surrounding the annual event.
Baseball Tonight live from Williamsport
ESPN’s coverage will begin at 6 p.m. with Baseball Tonight live from Williamsport. Kevin Connors will host the on-site show alongside analyst Tim Kurkjian, previewing Braves-Brewers and setting the scene from Historic Bowman Field ahead of first pitch.
The MLB Little League Classic presented by New York Life will also be available on ESPN Radio, with Roxy Bernstein and analyst Doug Glanville calling Braves-Brewers from Williamsport beginning at 6 p.m.
Ahead of Sunday’s MLB Little League Classic, ESPN.com’s MLB reporters will ask current Major League players to share the best advice they received during their own Little League days, along with the advice they would give to kids playing baseball today.
