ESPN delivered its second most-watched WNBA game ever for the second consecutive week as the Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky matchup averaged 2.6 million viewers on ABC on Saturday, August 8.
The matchup ranks as ESPN networks’ second most-viewed WNBA game on record, including both regular-season and playoff games. The audience was up 79 percent compared to last year’s ABC regular season average.
Leading into the game, WNBA Countdown presented by Google Pixel averaged 705,000 viewers on ABC, up three percent compared to last year’s ABC regular season average.
Through 22 games, the WNBA on ESPN networks is averaging 1.3 million viewers, up five percent year-over-year.
ESPN’s WNBA coverage continues this week with three games on ESPN. On Tuesday, August 11, the New York Liberty visit the Indiana Fever at 7:30 p.m. ET. On Sunday, August 16, ESPN will present a doubleheader beginning with the Indiana Fever visiting the Atlanta Dream at 5 p.m., followed by the Portland Fire traveling to the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m. ET.
