Aaron Schatz has been writing about NFL analytics since he founded the website Football Outsiders in 2003. He is best known for creating the metric DVOA, and the New York Times Magazine referred to him as “the Bill James of football.”

Schatz is currently Chief Analytics Officer for FTN Fantasy, as well as a writer for ESPN+ and ESPN BET. He has done custom research for a number of NFL teams and is one of 50 members of the Associated Press voting panel for NFL regular-season awards and the All-Pro team. His 20th preseason annual book, “Aaron Schatz’s FTN Football Almanac 2024,” came out in July of 2024.

Schatz grew up in Sharon, Massachusetts, and has a B.A. in Economics from Brown University.
