Alexa Philippou is a women’s basketball reporter for ESPN. She joined the company in February 2022 and covers both college basketball and the WNBA.

With a year-round focus on women’s basketball, Philippou covers all the sport’s major events – the NCAA Women’s Final Four, the WNBA Draft, WNBA Finals, and more.

In her first year with ESPN, Philippou also travelled to Sydney, Australia to cover the USA Women’s Basketball Team at the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Her multi-platform role at the tournament included daily reports and features for ESPN.com as well as television coverage on ESPN’s domestic and international platforms, including ESPN Australia.

Philippou previously covered the UConn Huskies and the Connecticut Sun for the Hartford Courant from 2019 to 2022. Prior to The Courant, her work appeared in the Dallas Morning News, Seattle Times and Cincinnati Enquirer.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Philippou earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford University in 2018.
