Vice President, Super Bowl Production

An award-winning production executive with more than 30 National Emmys to his credit, Andy Tennant was named to the newly created position of ESPN Vice President, Super Bowl Production, in January of 2025. Tennant is overseeing ESPN and The Walt Disney Company’s coverage and content surrounding Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles in 2027, the company’s first Super Bowl since it was televised by ABC in 2006. During his three decades with ESPN, Tennant has led development and production for ESPN’s live events, studio shows, storytelling, scripted series, documentaries, podcasts, original content, special projects and creative.

In addition to the Emmy Awards, Tennant’s oversight in ESPN’s storytelling and original content production has been recognized with Peabody Awards for Journalistic Excellence, Edward R. Murrow Journalism Awards, the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, Television Academy Honor, and awards from the NABJ, GLAAD and the AWSM (Gracie Awards), among others.

Previously Vice President and Executive Producer, ESPN Original Content, Tennant led creation of E60, ESPN’s highly decorated sports storytelling brand, and was executive producer from when it began in 2007 until early 2025. Under Tennant’s leadership, E60 received more than 110 Sports Emmy nominations and won accolades for its mix of revealing profiles, hard-hitting investigations and exclusive interviews delivered with innovative production techniques, top-notch journalism with unrivaled storytelling. From 2015 through early 2025, Tennant also oversaw all aspects of editorial and production for ESPN’s signature journalism and reporting franchise Outside the Lines, and in 2024 led creation of the college sports storytelling show Game On: Journey to NCAA Championship and the revival of another ESPN signature program, The Sports Reporters.

In late 2020, Tennant oversaw the production of SportsCenter Presents: 2020 – Heroes, History and Hope, a three-hour prime time special that used the lens of sports to look back at the memorable events of 2020 and look ahead to the future. The program, which aired on Christmas Eve of 2020, was honored with a Sports Emmy for Best Edited Special.

Tennant also oversaw the production of SportsCenter presents Kobe – The Legend, The Legacy, a two-hour, prime time special that debuted in January of 2021. The program, which aired near the one-year anniversary of basketball superstar Kobe Bryant’s tragic death, received a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Edited Special.

From April of 2021 through 2024, Tennant oversaw NHL on ESPN Studio Production and Storytelling, leading editorial and production of ESPN’s signature hockey program The Point – a program he helped create – as well as overseeing the production of high-end creative teases, features and elements used in NHL content including the Stadium Series, NHL All Star and Stanley Cup Final, winning two National Sports Emmy Awards.

In 2023 and 2024, Tennant oversaw development and execution of ESPN’s live event broadcasts of the New York City and Boston Marathons, the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and the Tournament of Roses Parade.

From 2019-2023, Tennant led the creation and development of the ESPN Daily Podcast, wining an Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalistic Excellence, and from 2020-2022, he led storytelling, editorial direction and production for the 30 for 30 podcast.

Tennant joined ESPN in August of 1995 as a production assistant. In 1997, as an Associate Producer, he contributed to virtually every ESPN studio show, from College GameDay to SportsCenter to NHL2Night.  From 1999-2004, as a feature producer, he told stories in college basketball, college football, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, tennis, golf and NASCAR, among others. In October 2000, he covered the Olympic Games for ESPN and ABC in Sydney, Australia. In 2006, he became senior director, development and production where, among other projects, he assisted in the development and production of ESPN’s eight-part scripted series The Bronx is Burning starring John Turturro, Oliver Platt and Daniel Sunjata.

A native of the Jersey Shore, Tennant earned a bachelor’s degree in film/Cinema/TV/Broadcast Journalism/Communications from Fairfield University in Connecticut, where he was captain and goalkeeper for the NCAA Division 1 soccer team.
